2018 November's End

Posted by Barb Hudson on

Always full of great intentions of writing regularly, the days fly past... designs to be created, clients orders need filling, other work is important and while these blogs are vital they seem to reluctantly get missed from the 'things we must do' list!

We have temporarily parked the crochet scoods and accessories... time is a big factor and whole we still have some on hand to sell we will not be creating a summer range this year.

However we have further developed the jewellery side. Barisa Studio now has a lovely range of 'one off', fairly chunky necklaces, cuffs and rings... all sterling silver and all available at wholesale prices. This group is being added to as items sell... there are a couple of new necklaces being worked on at present and some great bracelet designs waiting their turn!

More recently we have also been undertaking some very special commissioned rings and cuffs which while taking longer are such satisfying things to do, working with a client and creating something they will value and treasure forever.

We are not moving away from the copper, brass and aluminium jewellery which always has appeal and offers great creative variety, but the interest in the sterling silver work has grown recently so we are concentrating on that at the moment.

Kelly, after a very busy winter season with hockey, has been back to her workshop, creating with steel, and is also getting some interesting commissions, both large and small. Note the very neat earring display (one of two) which she designed and created for our stall!

When the weather is fine on the last Sunday of the, month (except December when it's the 16th) you'll find us both with our jewellery and sculpture at the Affordable Art and Artisan Fair at the Black Sheep Bar and Grill on the corner of Plummers Point Road, SH 2, between Tauranga and Katikati. If it rains we just have the jewellery inside but when fine.... you get to see it all!
