Here's the first of the Mustache Man Series. The media used is... from the back... stainless steel, metallic leather, brass and perspex. The cold connection rivets are hollow and the brass pins through them which wiggle a little and make them look more like eyes, are curled at the back to make carriers for the gun metal ball and chain necklace.The metallic leather has quite a bronze effect which shows off the brass mustache and rivets most effectively. Both the stainless steel and perspex have gently shaped corners and  the perspex has rounded sides. The pendant measures 5.5 cm by 12.5 cm...

Re-purposing bangles and collars

When friends decided to change from having a shop into becoming superb cafe proprietors we took some of their stock jewellery and, with their agreement, started re-purposing it to sell on our market stall ...  through here and on the Barisa page on Facebook (please go there, check it out and do us a favour by liking it!) The first adaptation we made was a feather collar... beautiful iridescent feathers but possibly neck-wear which would only have very limited appeal. Starting the great catch-up.

So the lack of posts since September last year has not meant that the life for Barisa has been bland, boring and not filled with design and crafty activity. Barisa has been uber-busy creating, filling commissions and making new stock for the markets which have managed to stretch from one a month at this time last year to at least two a month now. There have also been frequent extras which are usually collaborations between The Little Big Markets... who we support... and other entities, Tauranga City Council, National Jazz Festival, Papamoa Holiday Camp... not forgetting the amazing people who invited us to...
